Discovery Cache at age 5

It was a great day to go caching, so we looked up some close ones. Living in Orem, Utah, we weren't far away from the canyons and decided to head that way. The cache was rated 2/2 and we figured we could do it. The kids had lots of energy and were bored. So we headed up the canyon and watched our eTrex Vista - we were getting closer, then suddenly we were getting farther away. We found a place to park and headed back on foot. Soon we discovered that it was up the side of a hill a ways from the road. We started out. It was tough going. We circled around and around for a while. With the heavy tree cover, my Vista was having a hard time keeping the sattelites and getting a good lock. The kids were eagerly looking around, hoping to be the first to spot it. Suddenly, my 5 year old screamed out, "I found it!" Sure enough, under a mound of rocks - don't know how he spotted it - there it was. We pulled it out, traded some toys and signed the log. The best part of the find however, was the fact that our youngest found the cache. He still reminds us that he's got an 'eagle eye' for caches. If only he had that same gift when he's looking for his lost toys at home!
